Flowers Seeds Dispersal:
Delicate wind pollinated flowers. Dioecious: the male and female wind pollinated flowers are produced on separate plants in early spring. Has generous clusters of black/red fruit ripening between February and June the following year. These are eaten by birds which disperse the seeds.

Habitat:
Grows in waterlogged soils on the margins of lakes and swamps. The fruit are a valuable food source for birds and of course attract birds which may bring in other native seeds. The plants are easy to grow from seed. Allow the fruit to go soft then wash away the pulp which leaves two seeds for each drupe (fruit)
